Getting to know Rachel:
- What was your first job?
My first job was at a Pizza Hut ‘all-you-can-eat’ restaurant—I loved the fast-paced customer service and the energy of the team (plus, unlimited pizza didn’t hurt!). Made some lifelong friends there. My first step into insurance was as the mail girl at AA Insurance, where I quickly realized just how interesting and dynamic the industry could be. Who knew delivering mail could deliver a whole career?
- Who’s your go to band or artist when you can’t decide on something to listen to?
Six60 is my go-to—easy listening and a good sing-along!
- What’s the best way to start the day?
Without an alarm! It’s very rare, but I absolutely love waking up naturally and not having to rush out of bed!
- What are you addicted to?
Chocolate! I think I could give up almost anything, but I could not live without chocolate!
- What is one of your favourite smells?
Freshly baked bread! I have a bread maker and bake a fresh loaf every morning – so good waking up to the smell wafting through the house!
- What are you reading/watching currently?
Mad Men—definitely late to the party, but I’m loving it! The storytelling, the style, the drama… I have no idea where the storyline will go over 7 seasons! - What’s something you’ve been meaning to try but just haven’t gotten around to it?
Stand-up paddleboarding! I’ve been meaning to give it a go for ages—and now I have no excuse. My family got me one for my birthday, so here’s hoping I actually like it! I’ll consider it a win if I can get onto my feet the first time!
